More Incentives to Help

Hi Everyone!  Hope you and all your families had a wonderful Thanksgiving!


Just a few updates - So far, we'd have about 20 or so ticket purchases, but want to get as many more as we can during the discounted rate time frame.  The sooner we get a definite headcount, the easier it is for us to plan the event.   We have to determine the amount of linens, napkins, tables, chairs, centerpieces, etc, and it all depends on the headcount.  So, if you definitely know you are going to attend the 10 Year Reunion, please take a few minutes and order your tickets by Monday, December 2 and take advantage of the discount!  To also entice you to get your tickets earlier, we are extending the 5 Free Chinese auction raffle tickets incentive until Monday, December 2 as well (And, if you buy a couple ticket, that is 5 per person, so you are getting 10 free Chinese auction tickets before you even show up!)

We have also had a few volunteers for the cookie table and the Chinese Auction basket donations.  About 4-5 classmates outside of the committee members have also volunteered to donate cookies and gift baskets.  However, we'd like to get at least 5-10 more classmates involved with each (cookie donations and gift basket donations).  In order to do that, we are going to offer more incentives as well to those who are willing to donate cookies and gift baskets for the reunion.  (This will be retroactive and apply to the 10 people who have already committed to basket donations and cookie donations, don't worry!  We are very happy for your donations and help!)

Likewise, we've had NO photo or video submissions yet.  Now, I know people were probably busy for the holiday or might have their old pictures at their childhood homes, but hopefully between now and mid December, some classmates might have a chance to upload a handful of their favorite old photos and submit them via email.  We are offering some nice incentives for submissions for that, too!

10 Year Reunion Tickets

Hello Everyone!

Sorry for the day delay in posting ... we have finally been able to establish the ticket prices for the 10 Year High School Reunion.  

As mentioned in a previous post, purchase of a Reunion Ticket is necessary to attend the reunion.  You are also able to purchase a Reunion Ticket + Drink Ticket, which will allow you to receive a wristband upon admission to receive drinks at the open bar for the entire 4 hour reunion time.  If you do not drink or plan on drinking, it is not necessary to purchase a Drink Ticket.  The Reunion Ticket price includes costs for appetizers, a buffet dinner, and refillable soft drinks, iced tea, and coffee as non-alcoholic beverage options.

As an additional option, we are offering 'Couples" tickets.  As many people plan to bring a spouse, significant other, friend, or date, this option allows an additional discount to classmates by purchasing tickets as a 'pair' in advance.   Likewise, if you and another classmate would like to take advantage of the "Couples" ticket discount, this is allowed!  When you purchase your ticket, you will just need to note the name of the other classmate receiving that other couple ticket.

As also mentioned previously, we will be having an "Early Bird" special on tickets.  We hope to open up ticket sales by Friday, November 22.  There will be an option to purchase online via your PayPal account as well as mail in a personal check made payable to GLSHS Class of 2003.  A link will be posted once the PayPal account is up.  

The Early Bird Prices will be available until Cyber Monday (December 2, 2013).  Starting on Tuesday, December 3, tickets will be available for a standard purchase price.  If you know you plan on coming, it is definitely best to make sure and take advantage of the ticket discounting and order your tickets during the Early Bird Special!

Below are the breakdown options for tickets.  There are 4 types of tickets - Note below the prices for the Early Bird Special versus the Standard Ticket price.  We did our best to keep the ticket prices as close to face value as possible.  This ensures you are only paying for your dinner, drinks, and gratuity/taxes related to those items.  The Ligonier Country Inn is happy to provide their banquet menu to anyone in order to see that our ticket prices directly reflect only fees associated with dinner, drinks, and gratuity/taxes.  

We hope to have the Chinese Auction and 50/50 raffle fundraising at the reunion in order to secure more funds in advance for future reunions.  This would allow us to discount all ticket prices, have a DJ, and also offer other perks in the coming years.

Memories! Photo Slideshow & Video

Oh, the Memories!

Do you remember them all?  The good old days at Dear Latrobe High?  Well, just in case you don't, we plan on having a Memories presentation including a slideshow of photographs as well as a video presentation at the 10 Year High School Reunion.  In order to do this, we need PHOTOGRAPHS and VIDEOS from all of you, our wonderful CLASSMATES!


PHOTO SUBMISSIONS

We will be accepting photograph submissions at latrobewildcats2003@gmail.com from now until December 10.  As to photographs for the slideshow, we ask that you only submit pictures with Latrobe students in them, preferably students from the Class of 2003.  Pictures can date back to elementary school or younger and can range up to present day.  However, for any younger photographs, please list who is pictured in the photos, so that can be noted, as not everyone knows who people are when they were very young.  

We would like to get a great mix of pictures from elementary school, junior high school, senior high school and even recent snapshots of classmates reunited together.  Pictures can include anything from birthday parties, sports teams, school events, class portraits, school dances, wedding parties. vacation trips to random hanging out snapshots.  remember, the more members of Class of 2003 in the photos, the better! We would like to get submissions from as many people in the Class of 2003 as possible, that way we can include and represent all students in our class through this Photographic Memory show.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

We will be accepting video submissions at latrobewildcats2003@gmail.com from now until December 5.  As to videos for the the video montage, we ask that you only submit videos that include Latrobe students or Latrobe events, preferably mainly including students from Class of 2003.  Videos can include sporting event games, school plays or musicals, elementary school shows, dance recitals, talent shows, videos of Prom, Homecoming, school dances, birthday parties, class projects, and more.  If your videos are in VHS form still, we do possibly have the capabilities of transferring them to DVD.  If you are in this situation, please contact us at the above address.  We will do our best to accommodate you and any of your old school VHS situations, however, we may not be able to help everyone in this situation.

Cookie Table Volunteers

Cookie Table Volunteers Needed!

In true Western Pennsylvania form, we plan to have a wonderful Cookie (and candy and treats) Table set up at the 10 Year High School Reunion.  In order to make this as awesome and delicious as possible for all our guests, we will need to have several VOLUNTEERS commit to baking some amazing treats for us to set out for guests.

Ultimately, we'd like to get between 35-40 dozen cookies.  That number sounds like a lot ... but if we had 20 volunteers each bake 2 dozen cookies, we could easily get 40 dozen cookies.  For an anticipated turnout of at least 100 people, this would mean 480 cookies, meaning each guest would get to enjoy 4-5 cookies.  Obviously, we'd love to have many, many more, but understand it is all up to CLASSMATE VOLUNTEERS to make the Cookie Table possible and a delicious success.

Therefore, if you are a typical Christmas cookie baking kind of person, we'd love if you could sign up and volunteer to make at least 1-2 dozen cookies.  If you don't make cookies, but make homemade candy, cupcakes, cake balls, or other treats, those are indeed also acceptable delights for the table!  If you can make more than one item, that would be even more wonderful!  All we need to know is the following:

Hello Classmates!

In order to prepare for an awesome and exciting reunion, we are trying to compile a list of everyone's favorite songs from the 80s, 90s, 2000's and present to create an ultimate party playlist for the 10 year high school reunion.  If you could, please click below in the "Comments" section and post both the name of the song and artist of the song you'd like to request. We will be accepting song requests until December 10.

Remember, we'd like to get a great mix of nostalgic songs, old school upbeat songs, jr. high slow dance classics, and present day party hits.  There is no limit to your requests, and even if you see someone has already requested a song, please still add that song in a post in the "Comments" section below.  The more requests for the same song, the more we know it definitely needs to be on the list of songs to be played throughout the four hour party.

Unfortunately, as we are selling reunion tickets at as close to face value as possible and as there are no previous reunion funds available, we are likely not going to be able to get a DJ - therefore, we will be setting up a pre-arranged music playlist ourselves.  If you do know anyone in our class or friends with a member of our class willing to volunteer their services, please contact us to let us know.  Otherwise, we are also in need of professional or other higher grade speakers and a microphone for our reunion, so if you, another classmate, or friend has anything that can be borrowed or rented for a small fee, please contact us!

Current Details

All 2003 classmates are invited and are encouraged to bring their spouses, significant others, or a guest/date with them.  In order to ensure that all classmates who'd like to attend can receive a ticket (as space is limited at the reception site), we are asking that each classmate limit any additional ticket purchases to one guest.  If in December we have a low guest count, we will open it up for classmates to invite and purchase tickets for any additional guests.

The reunion will start off with appetizers, a buffet style dinner followed by music and dancing throughout the night.  There will also be a Chinese Auction, a 50/50 raffle, a traditional cookie table, various door prizes, several memory presentations, and hopefully a photo booth!  There is a Tavern on site as well at The Ligonier Country Inn, which will be open and offering drinks after the conclusion of the reunion at 11:00pm.  Also, The Ligonier Country Inn has various hotel accommodations available on site for guests.  All information about this venue can be found at the webpage links listed above.  


Ticket Information

Our reunion committee is working out ticket prices and setting up a PayPal account to accept debit and credit card payments online for tickets.  Once ticket prices are determined and the PayPal account is set up, that information will be posted on this blog and our Facebook group page.  Payment for tickets will also be able to be made by check, which will can be mailed to a committee member.


There will be two types of tickets for purchase:

(1) Reunion Ticket
-includes admission, non alcoholic beverages (soda / iced tea), appetizers, buffet dinner, dessert and treats

(2) Drink Ticket
-includes unlimited alcoholic beverages for four hour at the open bar


A Reunion Ticket is necessary to attend the reunion.  Also, at this time, all Reunion Tickets are set to be sold in advance, as an official guest count is needed up front and payment will need to be made before the reunion date.  Drink Tickets are not necessary to purchase.  However, if you are wishing to have any alcoholic beverages, the Drink Ticket will be a great value and will allow unlimited drinks for 4 hours at the open bar set up for us at the reception site.  All Drink Tickets must be purchased in advance.  If you purchase a Drink Ticket, you will receive a wristband upon entry to the reunion.

Tickets will be limited and there will be 'early bird' discounts for tickets purchased throughout November.  Please check back next week - as we hope to have finalized ticket prices next week and begin the sale of them sometime between Monday, November 18 and Wednesday, November 20.

We had about 75 people show up at the 5 year cocktail reception at Sharky's Cafe and we are hoping for a larger turnout for our ten year reunion.  Help make this a wonderful event, and RSVP to come, purchase a ticket, and make sure to spread the word to all other classmates.  We definitely hope to get at least 100 classmates to attend this event!  This event will definitely be a fun way to catch up with long lost friends over this holiday season.   Thank you and hope to see you all there!

Chinese Auction Donations Needed

Chinese Auction Donations Needed!

In order to raise funds for future reunions, at the 10 year reunion, we will be holding a Chinese Auction.  If you have never participated before in a Chinese Auction, here’s how it works: It starts with you buying tickets for a set price.  A table is set up with a bunch of wonderful gift baskets and other great items, each with a jar in front of them.  If you like a basket or item, you write your name on a ticket and place that ticket in that jar.  At the end of the evening, a ticket will be selected from each jar, and the person whose name is on the ticket will win that basket or item.  However, in order for this to work to raise money, we have to receive donations for the auction.  

Currently, we have a reunion committee of approximately a dozen people working on soliciting donations from local establishments as well as their own workplaces and other networking connections.  We also have several committee members who will be making gift baskets themselves and donating them to the auction as well.  However, we would like to reach out to the entire class and ask for you to consider donating an item or gift basket for the auction.  Maybe you work somewhere awesome and know you’d be able to get a wonderful donation.  Maybe you are self-employed and have a great company, product, or service you’d like to donate.  Maybe you are just super crafty and can knit, sew, bake, or make something fabulous to donate.

We would like to gather and pick up all donations by the weekend after Thanksgiving.  If this is not possible, we understand and can make arrangements to pick it up before or after Christmas.  Just let us know!  We are hoping to get at least 20 gift baskets / items for our auction, but it would be great to have even more.  Note that we need to know the value of your donation as it can be deducted on your taxes, and we can provide you with a receipt for this purpose.  All funds from the Chinese Auction will go towards paying for this reunion's expenses and then into our GLSH Class of 2003 Reunion Savings account to be held for future reunions in order to lower future ticket costs.
